Monroe County Republicans Honor Ronald Reagan with Annual Dinner

The Republican Party of Monroe County recently gathered for their annual dinner, a tradition held each year in tribute to former President Ronald Reagan. This year's event took place on November 1st, 2025, at the scenic Reef House Resort in Key Largo. 

The Reagan Dinner, a nationwide observance, typically sees conservative organizations, presidential libraries, and civic institutes hosting events to commemorate the 40th U.S. President. Prominent gatherings often include the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, and numerous local Republican chapters.

Chairwoman Rhonda Rebman-Lopez opened the evening with a recap of the party's successes, drawing a clear picture of growth and dedication within the county. She proudly announced that Monroe County leads the state in per capita fundraising, a testament to the commitment of its supporters. She also pointed to a notable shift in the Supervisor of Elections office, which transitioned from Democratic to Republican control. This victory is particularly significant given that some within the party had initially supported a Democratic candidate for the position. Perhaps the most celebrated achievement shared was Monroe County's overwhelming support for President Trump in the last election, with a larger percentage of voters choosing him than in any other county across Florida.

The evening featured an impressive roster of speakers who shared their perspectives on key issues facing the nation and the state.

Blaise Ingoglia, Florida's Chief Financial Officer and State Fire Marshal, served as the keynote speaker. Ingoglia emphasized his commitment to supporting Florida's taxpayers and advocating for meaningful property tax relief for residents.

U.S. Congressman Carlos Gimenez stressed the fundamental role of government in protecting its citizens. He lauded President Trump's efforts to combat cartels and the influx of fentanyl into the United States, citing the devastating impact of the drug.

Dr. Gina Loudon, a prominent television host and author, also addressed the attendees and spoke of getting involved in our communities. She is a long time Trump media advisor, best-selling author, MAHA advisor, and co-host of American Sunrise on Real America's Voice. Her most important role is that of homeschooling five children, one of which she is blessed through adoption and happens to have Down Syndrome.

Miami-Dade County's first female Sheriff, Rosie Cordero-Stutz, shared her dedication to honoring veterans and military personnel. She eloquently defined freedom as liberation from the threat of crime, expressing pride in her role in removing 300,000 fentanyl pills from circulation. She highlighted the new strategy of treating narco-trafficking groups as terrorist organizations, providing law enforcement with enhanced tools to dismantle these networks.

A dynamic presentation was also delivered by members of Turning Point USA and local high school Club America, showcasing the engagement of young conservatives.

A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the "America First Award" to Key West local Gilda Niles. She was recognized for her exemplary embodiment of Republican principles and patriotism.

Across all the speakers, a recurring theme resonated: the importance of standing up for truth, freedom and getting involved in our communities.

The event saw strong attendance from Monroe County residents, with a notable presence from Dade County as well. Among the Republican elected officials of Monroe County were Key West City Commissioner Lissette Carey, Supervisor of Elections Sherrie Hodies, State Representative Jim Mooney, and Harry Russel, who is campaigning for a City Commission seat in Key West.
