From @ConchBaseball X account:

"From leading Key West Conch Baseball to that amazing 1958–59 state-championship run (a Conch legend), to becoming a college and pro football star. He was a two-time All-American, finished in the top 5 of the Heisman Trophy voting, and set nearly every passing record at Miami Hurricanes — including over 5,135 total offense yards. His No. 10 jersey was retired by the Hurricanes, making him one of just a handful to get that honor. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1964 NFL Draft and went on to play in the NFL, as well as the CFL and WFL — leaving a mark wherever he played. Forever a pioneer, forever a Conch legend — and his legacy lives on."
