God Remembers You

By: Lydia Estenoz December 29, 2025

“I have engraved you in the palm of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” Isaiah 49:16

I tend to forget things: passwords, phone numbers, certain experiences from youth and people I haven’t seen in years. Yet, I don’t forget those things or people that marked me or made a strong impression on me.

For example, I never forget my children’s birthdays or my mother’s advice;  I still remember the butterflies I got in my stomach when I fell in love with my husband. I still remember the pain of  my 21-year-old nephew's passing.  I even have a photographic memory of the house on Grinnel Street where I grew up in Key West.

How many of us can forget our wedding day, our children’s eyes, or the day God spoke to us?

Certain memories are engraved in our minds because our senses have the power of memory storage. They can transport us to a place in time by helping us recall details.

We remember and even relive moments. This may sometimes be painful, but God assures us that we are never forgotten.  We were built in His image, and just as we remember it all, good and bad, so does He.

Sometimes when I am struggling or anxious, my senses can be a source of peace.  When I close my eyes and smell anointing oil, it helps me visualize that I am a daughter of God.  It transports me to a place where I feel safe in His presence.  God gives us the power of our senses so we can feel His peace and calm.

Memories are recorded deeply within us. And yet, certain people, situations and details have escaped me over the years. Maybe they were too much to handle, or they became insignificant over time.

Not so with God; we are each of great value and significance in his eyes. None of us are so broken or sinful that he can’t handle us. He remembers His children so intensely that  even the details of our personal lives are in His memory.

His word says, “I have engraved you in the palm of my hands.”

If everyday you woke up and saw my name, Lydia, inscribed on your hand, it would be hard for you to forget.  If my life issues or my needs were always in front of  you, forgetting me would be impossible.  God is always with us in this way, and He never forgets us.

Maybe you have been praying to God for long-held promises and desires.  Perhaps you have been praying for the deliverance of a spouse or a child.  Maybe your prayer is for physical or emotional healing.  Or perhaps you are asking God to make a way where there seems to be no way. I want to strengthen you today by reminding you what God says.

God says, “I have heard your groaning, and I remember my promise to you,” (Exodus 6:5).

Don’t lose faith or hope. As you pray, remember God’s words and the promises He made to you. Tell Him that you are waiting in expectation. Find peace in knowing that you are always in His thoughts. God never forgets you.
